Picked up a used headlight assembly because one of them was broken and wouldn’t aim properly. It was ok for puttering around town but I need some bright and well aimed headlights. Fortunately I had half a set of silverstars hanging on a nail in my garage (leftover from my vibe).

The mud flaps, here’s the story: Our city built a useless new stadium as well as a useless highway bypass. (They could have just built a road but we got a bunch of diverging diamond interchanges and a dozen bridges, I repeat, we needed a road) Anyway That’s led to a lot of people getting mudflap tickets. It’s illegal to not have mudflaps here, you can sell a new vehicle without, and you can drive without them for 20 years but when the city and province become broke they crack down on mudflaps. My friend got a ticket the other day, on a 38 year old truck that had never had them. Also we just won the crime severity index for the year (take that Lethbridge and Winnipeg, with your rookie crime numbers) and our local police’s reaction whenever this happens is to go raise monies for the Queen by way of speed traps and bullshit mudflap tickets. My truck was sold new without mudflaps. Crime is way up! go hide in school zones on sunday mornings!

generally the police talking to you starts at $200, this gives you the option of getting some flaps and having them approved at the cop shop. I’ll just circumvent that by getting the flaps now. Big ass farmer flaps on the back and some little spats on the front (4 flaps required)

Some years I go through 5-6 windshields, so I’m all for mud flaps (plus they look cool), but $200 is insane. Mot equipment tickets here are in the $20-40, but you pay nothing if you can prove you fixed the issue.

Mudflaps are common courtesy, but if required by law the car should come with them.

Yeah, they should make dealers add them. Down here they’re only required on lifted trucks. I have factory flaps on my Tundra and I think they look great. They have a retro 70s vibe to them.

I don’t know for sure, but $40 dollar ticket is a memory from the 80's for sure. $35 is the most basic parking fine, which goes up as you don’t pay it.

I think our lowest tickets are for speeding on a highway. Cops can cite you for “wasting a finite resource” for going ten over the limit and it’s a $15 fine. They tried raising it to 20 over which would have been really nice.

My Ranger didn't come with mud flaps either, and it's not like Ford still sells the mount brackets for them any more.

They used to be big on lighting regulations: blue lights on your valve stems: pay up. Clear marker without amber bulbs: pay up. These days its mud flaps and Manual vehicle fails to display shift pattern. This is a classic around here. Legislation says that any vehicle with more than 3 forward gears shall have shift pattern displayed. Years ago I had a #15 pool ball as my shifter. I sawed the top off the original shifter and glued it to the dash. They actually ticket people for this.

Bullets cost money, they’re here to collect money. But seriously they’ve shot 13 people in 115 years. I know one of them, he deserved it. (He’s fine but has 2 bullets in his x-rays)
